A Walk On The Wildside
On 26th September 2021, Surrey Heath Age Concern are organising a Sponsored Walk, (starting times from 9:00 AM, Bracknell Road, Old Dean Camberley). To register to be a sponsored walker please click here.
The five mile (10,000 steps) walk through the undulating woodland and wild heathland areas, part of the Thames Basin Heath Special Protection Area, will give participants the opportunity to see the historic Wish Stream, (part of the Surrey-Berkshire county border). Walk on Kings Ride, used by King George III as a short cut to and from Windsor Castle when visiting his fleet at Portsmouth, Wishmoor Bottom, Saddleback Ridge and the habitats of the rare, protected species that rely on such precious open spaces for their very survival.
Our Rainbow Cafe in Albert Road, Camberley Town Centre, an important source of income for us as well as being a meeting place for our clients and visitors, and our venue for fund-raising events, has, due to COVID-19, been closed for much of the last year. We are hoping that our planned sponsored walk will raise much needed funds to enable us to continue, develop and improve the services we provide within Surrey Heath.
Surrey Heath Age Concern (SHAC) is a LOCAL organisation run by LOCAL people for LOCAL people.
To become a Sponsored Walker the easiest way is to complete our online registration form. Alternatively, if you wish, you may download the registration form here and email or post your completed form to us at, our contact details may be found here.
