Some of SHAC’s Volunteers, Trustees, Staff and Sainsbury’s Team – October 2019

This week, (1st – 7th June 2020) marks volunteers week; whilst the current COVID-19 lockdown means that we cannot celebrate the work of our wonderful volunteers in the way we would like, everyone at SHAC would like to take this opportunity to thank all our fantastic volunteers for their hard work, whether they be drivers, cafe volunteers, befrienders or tea and chatter hosts.

Due to the current government COVID-19 restrictions the Rainbow Cafe is temporarily closed, Tea and Memories, Quiz Night and Tea and Chatter events are also cancelled, but please be assured that all these will return and soon as it is safe to do so.

We are pleased and humbled to say that our Visiting and Befriending service has adapted superbly to the crisis due to the commitment of of volunteers the coronavirus emergency really has brought out the best in all of our volunteers!  All our befrienders, are keeping in regular touch with their befriendees with telephone calls; many of our volunteers are going the extra mile by assisting them with shopping and collecting their medication, some volunteers are taking a coffee/tea and sitting on driveways and gardens chatting to their befriendee, socially distancing of course!

Everyone at SHAC is very proud to work alongside all our fantastic volunteers, we thank them for all their hard work!
