How Our Befriending Service Works

Our Befriending Service covers the Borough of Surrey Heath – from Bagshot and Windlesham through Camberley to Mytchett and all villages and towns in between. We work with you to enable you to stay independent and in touch with your local community.

The process is simple: our Co-ordinator will visit you; they will chat with you over a cup of tea so they get to know you and to help outline the kind of Befriender you would prefer to have visit you. The process of finding a suitable Befriender can take time as the purpose of the befriending is to establish a mutually respectful long term friendship. Until the Befriender has been found, you will receive regular telephone calls and perhaps a visit from the Co-ordinator.

When the right Befriender for you has been found, an Introductory Meeting is set up where the Co-ordinator and the Befriender visit you at home. This initial meeting is where you start your journey with your Befriender.

Our Co-ordinator will help you every step of the way, they will check in with you on a regular basis to ensure that the befriending relationship is evolving.

All our Befrienders are DBS and reference checked for this service.
